Nervous Hill heading into knock-out rugby with Warrington

Warrington prop Chris Hill is expecting a tough test against Widnes at the Halliwell Jones Stadium on Saturday.

The England prop also acknowledges that the knock-out rugby of the play-offs adds an extra edge of anxiety to proceedings.

“We know Widnes are going to be tough opposition,” he said.

“We’ve beaten each other this season so nobody has the upper hand. We know they’ve got some dangerous players but we’ll be concentrating on our own game and what we need to do to come out on top.

“We’re ready for what Widnes have to throw at us. The loser goes out so it’s going to be two teams really going for it fighting to progress to the next stage.

“Knock-out Rugby League makes me nervous. I get butterflies before every game.”

Hill is hoping that the Wolves can show some of the form they displayed in the lead-in to the end of the regular season.

“We need to maintain the form we showed against St Helens and the first half against Wigan Warriors,” he added.

“If we can control the ball like we know we can then we’re good enough to make the Grand Final.

“Meeting teams like Huddersfield, Catalans, St Helens and Wigan in recent weeks has really helped us physically and mentally prepare for the play-offs.”
