Oldham coach Scott Naylor is very pleased that the Roughyeds will be playing their home games at Bower Fold next season.

The ground, home of soccer side Stalybridge Celtic, has been described as “homely, compact and the perfect fit for us,” by Naylor.

The stadium is covered on four sides, with a capacity of 5,200, including 1,215 seats.

“I was really pleased as we were shown around,” said Naylor.

“It’s exactly what we wanted –  a ground that’s big enough to meet our needs, yet a venue that will create a great atmosphere with 2,000 Oldham supporters  in it, plus travelling fans.

“The Celtic people we met were lovely people and I got the distinct impression that we will be made very welcome there.

“The groundsman had reason to be proud of his pitch, which was flat, immaculately groomed and with a fantastic surface. My players are not used to a pitch like that. It will be a pleasure for them to play on it.

“They will love Bower Fold. Changing-room facilities are spot-on and there’s plenty of room.

“Facilities for home and away officials and sponsors are good and, most importantly, the ground is great for supporters. They can sit or stand under cover and viewing is great on  both sides and from both ends.”
