Naughton keen to nail down Hull starting spot

Hull FC utility back Curtis Naughton is going to work hard in the coming weeks to make sure that coach Lee Radford finds it almost impossible to drop him.

Naughton featured prominently in the full-back role on Friday evening against Salford Red Devils, deputising for Jamie Shaul.

Now he hopes to rise to the challenge of becoming a first team regular with the Airlie Birds.

“I’ve got to have a good week’s training and make sure I’m fully fit by getting my recovery right to hope I get picked,” he told his club’s official website.

“Everyone wants to play, and it’s a challenge when all the boys have been playing so well this year. Luckily I got picked on Friday night, which helped with my fitness, too.

“Shauly’s been one of the best full-backs in the competition this year, so it will be really difficult to get into the team at full-back. But I’ve got to show this week that I’m good enough to be picked. I’d happily play wherever.”
