Premier Division round-up

INCE ROSE BRIDGE moved out of the relegation zone thanks to a 28-14 win over WEST HULL.

Winger Ryan Eccleston helped himself to a brace for the home side in the first half whilst Tom Whittle matched his efforts in the second.

Chris Boylan – a try and four goals – was also in form for Ince who led 14-10 at the break.

The visitors had first-half efforts from Lee Williams and Ben Parker – one of which was improved by Josh Hart – but managed just a sole Tom Cook effort in the second period.

EGREMONT RANGERS slipped to a second defeat of the season with EAST HULL completing a league double over the Cumbrians with a 13-12 win.

The Hull outfit beat them just seven days earlier and this narrow win moves them up into the play-off places.

James McDonald converted tries from Leon Crellin and Richard Farrer to complete the home side’s points scoring in the first period, but it was not enough as Scott Partis and Lewis Campion replied for Easts and Carl Puckering crucially booted two goals and a field-goal to give his side the points.

MYTON WARRIORS opened their 2013 account with a 32-18 win against LEIGH MINERS RANGERS.

Carl Booth, Richard Dunham, Lee Fewlass, Lee James and Kris Walker touched down for the Warriors as Ash James kicked six goals to help seal the win.

HULL DOCKERS strong start to the season continued with a 31-12 victory at SIDDAL.

Gareth Blackburn converted efforts from Nick Smith and Emerson Newburn in the first half but that proved to be the end of the home sides scoring.

Paul Fletcher (2), Richard Dougal, Andy Taylor and Craig Skelton were the men to touch down for the visitors as Skelton’s four goals and a field-goal – plus a penalty from Chris Stephenson – proved to be enough.

THATTO HEATH CRUSADERS edged a high-scoring encounter with SKIRLAUGH 30-26.

The sides crossed for five tries each but the kicking of Shaun Quinn – five from five – proved to be the difference as Jason Bell could only manage three goals for the hosts.

Tom Saltmer (2), Ross Kemp, Lee Nobbs and Keith Gibson all touched down for Skirlaugh, but Thatto – with four-try Jack Jones – had just enough.

Dave Pike crossed for the visitor’s fifth try in a contest which saw his side lead 18-10 at the mid-way point.

A strong defensive effort from WATH BROW HORNETS helped them to an 8-0 win at WIGAN ST PATRICKS.

A Mark Watson try and two Peter Caddy goals helped the champions to their second win against St Pats in a week and moved them to fifth in the league ladder.

LOCK LANE continued their good start to life in the Premier Division with a 25-20 victory at YORK ACORN.

There was little to choose between the two sides throughout an absorbing contest with Danny Rowse playing a key role in the success with a try, two goals and a field-goal.

Adam Garlick (2) was another stand out performer for the Castleford side as Craig Duncan and Johnny Hayward also touched down.

The hosts crossed for three tries of their own via Arran Thompson, Danny Caldwell and Joel Johnson as Anthony Chilton kicked four goals.
