Premier Division round-up 

YORK ACORN moved out of the bottom three with a stunning 42-28 success over THATTO HEATH CRUSADERS. 

There were two tries each for Joel Johnson and Mike Embleton, whilst efforts from Ryan Gallacher, Callum Hannigan and Lewis Lord completed the Acorn try scoring. 

Anthony Chilton (6) and Ash Robson added the goals as the home side produced their best performance of the season. 

Thatto – who narrowly trailed 18-16 at the break – managed touchdowns from Dave Pike, Greg Burrows, Adam Walsh (2) and Jack Jones, with Jones also slotting over four goals. 

There was another upset at SIDDAL as the Halifax side slipped to a 22-20 defeat to bottom side MYTON WARRIORS. 

The hosts raced into a 14-0 lead but by the end of the contest has slipped to their fifth defeat of the campaign. 

Mark Boothroyd, Steve Hope, Ross White and Richard Lopag grabbed tries for the home side as Gavin Stead added a couple of conversions. 

However, it not enough as Myton responded with three Ash James goals and tries to Alan Dunham, Lee James, Chris Wainman and Bradley Krebs

LOCK LANE moved back to the top of the table following a 36-24 win at HULL DOCKERS. 

Tom Wood, Adam Garlick and Paul Brown all crossed in the first period for the visitors, before second half efforts from Garlick (two to complete his hat-trick) and Karl Robinson, plus the last of Danny Rowse’s four goals made the points safe. 

The home side did get some joy with two tries each from Sam Bowring and Andy Kay, plus a further touchdown from David Palmer. Kay tagged on two conversions. 

WATH BROW HORNETS continue to keep pace with the leaders as they squeezed past SKIRLAUGH 18-16. 

James Dixon, Jamie Devine (2) and Luke Davison were the Hornets to cross the whitewash as Peter Caddy could manage just a single goal. 

The Hull side were in the game throughout but eventually came up just short, meaning two tries from Ben Peterson, one from Jed Carter and two goals from Ross Kemp were in vain. 

INCE ROSE BRIDGE dropped into the relegation zone after a 28-4 defeat at WEST HULL. 

Ritchie Shaw grabbed a try for the Wigan side but that proved to be as good as it got. 

Scott Spaven and Aaron Spaven both kicked a conversion as Wests ran in six tries through Josh Hart, Lewis Jackson, Paul Shaw, Alex Benson, Tom Radley and James Jackson. 

LEIGH MINERS RANGERS past the half-century mark as they ran out 50-22 winners over EAST HULL. 

John Woods, Scott O’Brien, Andrew Hodson, and Adam Thomason all scored twice whilst Danny Jackson also contributed a four-pointer. 

Goals from Jonny Youds (5) and Steve Marsh (2) nudged Miners past the 50 mark. 

Easts – who finished with 11 men following the dismissal of Lee Brown and sin-binning of Lee Cator – could only manage tries from Chris Lyth (2), Matty Brookes and Cator, with Carl Puckering kicking three goals. 

WIGAN ST PATRICKS produced a clinical display to see off EGREMONT RANGERS 30-0. 

Kieran Harrison, Jayden Sanford, Bradley Smith – who also kicked a goal – Andy Higham and Anthony Griffiths were the try scorers, with four Dean Hatton goals completing the job.

Division One round-up 

HUNSLET WARRIORS completed a league double over city rivals EAST LEEDS with a narrow 20-16 success at Snake Lane. 

Tries to Gareth Brain, Caldon Bravo and Luke Raynor – plus two Gary McClelland conversions – moved the Warriors into a 16-0 half-time lead, but it needed a second from Raynor 12 minutes from time to complete the win. 

The home side were second best in the first half but roared back Jason Priestley converted two of the three tries scored via James Forsell (2) and Dave Nurse. 

ECCLES caused a huge upset as they best leaders WIGAN ST JUDES 28-26. 

Andrew Muscat led the way with a try and four goals, whilst other touchdowns came from Lewis Taylor, Steve Barry, Chris Smith and Marc Jones. 

St Judes slipped to their first loss of the season despite leading 18-6 at half-time. 

Scott Robinson – a try and five goals – was in impressive form whilst Paul Pendlebury, Dean Hunt and Nathan Jones also touched down. 

BRADFORD DUDLEY HILL went down 30-16 at home to OULTON RAIDERS. 

Free-scoring Nathan Kitson added a try and two goals to his season tally whilst other tries came from Dave Halley and Adam Jefferson. 

The hosts cause wasn’t helped by the 16th minute dismissal of Adam Dickinson and the Raiders took full advantage running in six tries. 

There was a brace for Jamie Chappell and others from Nathan Booth, Josh Dixon, Alan White and Stu Biscombe. Tommy Griffiths chipped in with three goals. 

Ross Brookes grabbed a sole try for MILLOM as they slipped to a 22-6 defeat to MILFORD MARLINS. 

Paul Evans improved the home sides only touchdown but it was never going to be enough against a Marlins side which now sits fourth in the table. 

James Barker, Josh Parle, Shane Tasker and Sam Hood claimed the visitors tries with Steve Waterhouse improving three of them. 

ROCHDALE MAYFILED were too strong for WATERHEAD and eventually prevailed 40-18. 

Rob Kershaw, Paul Brearley and Joe Quinici all crossed inside the first 12 minutes and there were further scores from Lewis Sheridan (2) – who also kicked six goals – Matty Moores and Simon Moore. 

Waterhead in response managed tries from Michael Diveney, Jake Maher, Fraser Coley and Matt Brennan, with Diveney adding two conversions. 

SADDLEWORTH RANGERS edged a high-scoring contest with STANLEY RANGERS 38-28. 

Bottom side Stanley led 28-20 with 15 minutes left on the clock but touchdowns from Chris Yarwood, Eric Johnson and Josh Bradbury – all of which were improved by Michael Coates in his seven goal haul – meant Saddleworth crept home. 

Johnson, James Whalley and Bradbury had crossed for Rangers earlier on, while Stanley had built up a lead thanks to tries from Chris Grice (2), Danny Grice – who also kicked four goals – Liam Crawley and Joel Marsh.

Division Two round-up 

ASKAM downed leaders NORMANTON KNIGHTS 36-10 to move second in the table. 

Ben Lewney’s hat-trick played a huge part in the Cumbrians win, whilst Darren Gaskell, Sam Broadley, Josh Steel and James Duerden completed their try scoring exploits. Four goals from Kristian Tyson capped a fine team effort. 

The Knights could only manage first half efforts from Aaron Butterfield and Jordan Ratcliffe, one of which Joe Crossland improved. 

LEIGH EAST raced to a 46-24 win over CASTLEFORD PANTHERS. 

Sam Grainey’s hat-trick caught the eye whilst Adam Holland was in the points courtesy of a try and seven goals. 

Adrian Dootson, Safraz Jama and Chris Whittle completed the try scoring for Leigh. 

The Panthers were only 18-14 adrift at the interval but it was not to be despite tries from Jordan Holder, Dan Moxon (2), Nat Campsill and John Brummitt. Holder and Ryan Martin each adding a goal. 

ELLAND returned home with the points after a comfortable 34-18 win at OLDHAM ST ANNES. 

Phil Taylor (2), Tom Harnett, Jack Fairbank, Oliver Fairbank and David Montgomery claimed the tries for the Halifax side as Taylor booted three goals and Cayci Pearson two. 

The Saints did enjoy some bright spells during the contest and managed tries to Chris Bell, Oliver Bryan, Chris Carter and John Fox. Kiel Lancashire added a conversion. 

OVENDEN produced a 13-try display to trounce EASTMOOR DRAGONS 70-16. 

Michael Holden kicked nine goals to supplement the try scoring feat as the Halifax side cruised to their fifth win of the season. 

Nathan Smith and Matthew Short both touched down twice whilst other efforts came from Luke O’Mara, Stuart Smith, Jack Sutcliffe, Matthew Collins, Reece Ogden, Dean Robertson, Gareth English, Martin Mullen and Aaron Varley. 

The Dragons –who trailed 36-10 at the break – managed tries from Steve Godfrey, Jed Goddard and Lee Whiteley, with Greg Wilby adding a goal. 

STANNINGLEY went down to a ninth defeat of the season with a 30-16 loss to SHAW CROSS SHARKS. 

The hosts claimed tries by Sam Savage, Callum Smithson and Steve Bacon, with Smithson also tagging on a couple of conversions. 

However, it was not enough to deny the Sharks who had two-try showings from both Chris Walker and Andrew Fawkes. 

Shaun Squires and Joe Bowness also crossed the line with Squires three goals completing a good afternoon’s work.

Division Three round-up 

BLACKBROOK slipped to a first defeat of the season following a 21-10 loss to UNDERBANK RANGERS. 

Tom Hurst and Darren Forshaw were the home sides try scorers as Lee Marsh added a conversion.

However, it was never going to be enough against a Rangers side who are well placed in the promotion race. 

Dave Pawson, Craig Williams and Kris Harrop touched down for the Huddersfield side with four Neil Barrett goals and a Harrop field-goal making the points safe. 

Leaders PILKINGTON RECS were pushed all the way by COVENTRY BEARS before winning 26-22. 

Ian Stanley and Ryan Rogers both crossed twice for Pilks with an Andy Knapper try and four Danny Lynch goals completing their points scoring. 

The Bears had a two-try showing from Mark Wilson, with other scores coming via Alex Brown and Chris Bowler. Steve Coleman (2) and Greg Moore chipped in with the extras. 

David Bolt’s hat-trick played a large part in helping CROSFIELDS to a 36-14 win at FEATHERSTONE LIONS. 

Matty Wilson (2) and Ben Mellor also crossed as Jack Reid and Jimmy Williams both kicked three goals. 

In response the Lions could only muster tries to Nick Deville, Ricky Willams and Richard Frankland. Frankland also tagged on a conversion. 

Billy Maunder – with a hat-trick – and Daniel O’Brien – a try and eight goals – were the main contributors for WOOLSTON ROVERS in their 56-6 win at HEWORTH. 

Eddie Vaughan (2), Troy Brophy, Christian Taylor, Daniel Fearnley and Ben Moores added the other Rovers touchdowns, whilst a try and goal from Tom Barron was all the hosts could provide. 

HINDLEY were too good for WIGAN ST CUTHBERTS as they won the derby contest 38-16. 

St Cuthberts points came from tries to Andy Moyles, Barry Gregson and Mark Brearley as Ben Cottrill added two goals but it never going to be enough. 

Ryan McKenzie, Rob Bailey, Darren Picton, Carl Burgess, Chris Scarborough (2) and Kieran Whittle crossed for the hosts, with Andy Wright (3) and Steve Sutcliffe supplying the extras. 

A Leigh Wheatley try was all PETERLEE PUMAS could come up with against KELLS as they went down 66-4. 

Chris Benson helped himself to a hat-trick for the promotion chasing Cumbrians and Barry Boyd crossed the whitewash twice. 

Carl Schofield, Lewis Smith, Daniel Joyce, Nathan Mann, Scott Lofthouse, Steve McCourt and Ryan Robb also got their names on the score sheet as Ben Milburn improved nine of them.
