National Conference League Premier Division Grand Final Preview

In a repeat of last year's BARLA National Cup Final, the top two from the Premier Division upheld the form books by making it to the Grand Final showpiece.

Miners are still smarting from the 18-10 loss to Skirlaugh in the semi final play off’s at home two weeks ago and I'm sure they still have memories of the defeat that Skirlaugh inflicted on the minor premier winners Rangers, in the BARLA National Cup Final.

So who would have thought that the Leigh side should start as slight favourites for the grand prize but that was the general consensus from the guys in the know after they disposed of East Hull by a resounding 59 points to 8 in the final eliminator play off match.

And with Paul Wigfield and John Woods hitting form, maybe Leigh Miners Rangers are deserved favourites and Miners coach Winston Sarsfield will have his troops ready.

There was nothing but praise and confidence coming from the coaching duo of Skirlaugh Colin Brown and Richie Gotts, though they will miss mercurial half back Andy Moody who has travelled Down Under for a summer in the ARL. But the dynamic youth of the side, allied with skill and pace is just what the game will require so they should be confident that they can repeat the performance that saw off the Miners on their own patch two weeks ago.

It should be a great spectacle so get yourselves down to Spotland Stadium home of Rochdale Hornets Saturday 19th May Kick off 2:30pm and enjoy the final chapter of this year’s National Conference leagues.
