Nathaniel Peteru gets green light for Hull KR debut when Super League resumes

Hull KR have announced that forward Nathaniel Peteru’s visa has been approved, meaning he will be available for selection when the Super League season resumes.

Peteru, 28, joined the Robins earlier this month having been a free agent following his release a year early from his Leeds contract in October.

The prop made 32 appearances in an injury-hit spell with the Rhinos, suffering two separate bicep injuries in his first season and then a fractured cheekbone last season.

He was drafted in by Robins coach Tony Smith following the career-ending injury to Mose Masoe, which freed up a non-federation spot on the club’s overseas quota.

Peteru will follow a home training programme while Super League is suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The season has currently been suspended until April 3, though this is almost certain to be extended following the latest government advice to stay at home.
