South Wales hooker Nathan Mossop has agreed a deal to return to Barrow for 2013.

Mossop, 24, has signed a one-year deal at Craven Park after spending a season down in Wales, having previously been a regular member of the Raiders’ Championship teams in 2010 and 2011.

Scorpions Head Coach Dave Clark said: “Nathan was an outstanding club man last year both on and off the field for us. His professionalism was outstanding and he did a lot of work for us in the community.

“He will be sorely missed and everyone wishes him all the best with his new business back in his home town and of course every success in playing for Barrow Raiders in the Championship next year.”

Mossop followed Clark to Neath after Barrow were relegated from the Championship, after revelations about the club’s finances, which saw then chairman Des Johnston handed an eight year ban from rugby league.

He scored 15 tries in 20 appearances for Scorpions, his last appearance coming in the 32-10 win over Gateshead in August.

Mossop added: “I would like to thank everyone at South Wales Scorpions for making my time down there very memorable both on and off the field.

“In particular I would like to thank Dave Clark and chairman Phil Davies for their continued support and guidance throughout my year at the club.”
