St Helens coach Nathan Brown has been fined £250 for comments about referee Phil Bentham following their home defeat to Catalan.

Brown, 39, was found guilty of improper conduct and publicly criticising a match official, a breach of two Operational Rules and the RFL’s Respect Policy.

He was instructed to pay £250 immediately with a further £250 suspended until the end of the 2014 season.

Earlier in the season, Leeds coach Brian McDermott was also fined for comments made after their match against the Dragons.

Brown’s assistant, Jamahl Lolesi, was handed a similar punishment earlier this month for comments he made to a match official during their win over Salford.

Hull KR coach Craig Sandercock was also handed a £250 suspended fine for publicly criticising match officials following Rovers’ recent game against Huddersfield.
