Myler dismisses special try as a ‘fluke’

Warrington scrum-half Richie Myler modestly wrote off his spectacular try against Wigan on Thursday evening as nothing more than good fortune.

Despite using his feet in a highly skilful way to help him score the try (see video), Myler was more at pains to stress how good the team performance had been in the 17-6 victory.

“It was a fluke!” he told Sky Sports after the game.

“I saw Matty going on the outside and I put a grubber kick in, and things go for you when you’re on a roll. I enjoyed it.

“We’ve got to lay it down to the forwards. We were under the pump a little bit, and lost a couple of men, those lads are busted and bruised.

“We were down to 17 fit players this week, but we stood tall.

“Sam Wilde comes in at 18 years old on debut, a fantastic debut from him.”
