Wigan back-rower Lee Mossop has signed a new five year contract with the club.

Mossop, 21, joined the Warriors as a 15-year old and established himself as part of the first team squad last season following successful spells on loan at Barrow and Huddersfield.

Mossop said: “I am thrilled to commit my long-term future to Wigan. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at the Club since joining some six years ago and it was always my hope to work hard and earn another Contract with them. There have been some rumours linking me with a move to the NRL but this was never my intention at this stage of my career.

“The Wigan club is heading in a great direction under Michael and his staff and it is my aim to do all I can to help Wigan’s success and to earn some silverware in the years to come.”

The former Hensingham amateur has made seven appearances in Wigan’s excellent start to the new season.

Boss Michael Maguire said: “Lee has worked very hard since my arrival and he has impressed me with his attitude and commitment. He has made a great start for us to the new Season and he has a wonderful future ahead in the game.”
