Morrison: We have work to do

Dewsbury coach Glenn Morrison says the Rams were not good enough against London last weekend and have to improve their game management.

Dewsbury went down 22-18 to the Broncos, the club’s third loss of the season. The Rams have won three and lost three after six rounds.

“We have to have better game management,” Morrison told the club’s website.

“I didn’t think we were good enough. We had three people pull out the night before, two front rowers and probably our best back rower, plus our half backs, who we haven’t been able to select consistently all season.

“But I just thought that a couple of our boys weren’t up to the level they need to be at. There’s a lot of work to do. And when they look back on our game, some of the players will realise that it’s very different playing in the first team to what it’s like in the Reserves.

“It’s a big step up, especially playing against teams like London, but we will work on any issues and try to be better in the weeks ahead.”

The Rams play Bradford Bulls in the Challenge Cup on Friday ahead of matches against Batley, Sheffield, Leigh and then the Bulls again.

“It’s going to be tough, playing a full time Bradford side then a good Batley side and then a full-time Sheffield team too,” Morrison admitted.

“The last couple of weeks have shown that it’s not just quite there at the moment.

“If we get past this period and start to click then we’ll be OK, But as said I think we all know we’ve got a fair way to go to be up there in that top four or top six.”
