Morrison leaves Widnes for Fev

Widnes forward Iain Morrison has joined Featherstone after Rovers agreed a transfer fee for the Scotland international.

Morrison, 26, still had twelve months to run on his contract but cited the move from full-time to part-time training and the impact on his family life as his reason for wanting a move from the Stobart Stadium Halton. His move to Rovers will reduce his commute substantially.

Vikings’ Sporting Director Terry O’Connor said, “We have made it clear that we didn’t want to lose Iain but we sympathise with his position. However, we also have to act in the best interests of the Club and the deal we have negotiated with Featherstone recognises this.

“Iain has suffered with injury this year but when fit is one of the best forwards in the Co-operative Championship and on behalf of everyone at Widnes Vikings we wish him well for the future.”
