Morley to face Kiwis with Rhinos

Adrian Morley will bring the curtain down on his legendary playing career by making a final appearance for former club Leeds Rhinos.

Morley has joined Leeds on a one-game basis, so that he can face the New Zealand national team on Friday October 23 at Headingley.

Having made his debut for Leeds in 1995, the game will be a fitting occasion for the prop to bring his playing career to an end on a real high.

“It’s a great honour and thrill for me,” said Morley.

“It has come out of the blue but when Gary Hetherington asked me I didn’t think twice. I have so many great memories of my time at Leeds and New Zealand were the first international team I played against in 1996.

“I can’t think of a better way to finish my career and I’m really looking forward to it.”

Leeds chief executive Gary Hetherington thinks it entirely appropriate that Morley should play his final game in Rhinos colours.

“Adrian has served Leeds, England, Great Britain and the game with great distinction for 20 years,” he said.

“It’s fitting he should finish where he started with Leeds at Headingley against the best Rugby League team in the world.”
