Morley backs young half-back

Salford captain Adrian Morley has backed French playmaker Theo Fages to plug the gap left by the injured Rangi Chase.

Fages, 19, was a first-team regular at the AJ Bell Stadium in 2013, making 24 appearances despite a tough welcome to Super League.

Last February, in a fixture away at Catalan, Fages was knocked-out for eight minutes after an illegal hit from Julian Bousquet.

His recovery would see him go on to earn a call-up to the France World Cup squad, and Morley is one of many impressed by the youngster.

He said, “Theo is a very talented player.

“Before the season started he knew he would be behind Tim Smith and Rangi Chase, but now with Rangi’s injury he’s got his opportunity.”

Fages added to his six tries from last season with a brace against London last Saturday, and the Red Devils will be hoping for more of the same against St Helens.

“He grabbed his chance with both hands and now he must keep showing his worth,” added Morley.
