Catalan Dragons have confirmed that full-back Morgan Escare has signed a new four-year contract with the club.

The Perpignan-born 22-year-old should now stay at the Stade Gilbert Brutus until the end of the 2018 season.

“I’m really happy and proud to stay at the club,” he said.

“I love the club, it’s my hometown club and it’s great to commit to a long-term deal with the Dragons.

“I feel really good here and I’m really happy to sign this new contract.”

Catalan head coach Laurent Frayssinous is delighted to have secured the future of such a star performer.

“It’s a great news for the club to keep Morgan for the next four seasons,” he said.

“He has an outstanding season so far, he has scored 27 tries in 27 games, which is awesome. He has improved a lot this season, his second in Super League, especially in defense.

“He has to keep his desire to improve and to bring his qualities to the team, both on and off the field.”

Bernard Guasch, Catalans Dragons chairman added: “He had two more years left on his contract but it was important not only for the club but also for Morgan to secure him a long term deal.

“He had an amazing season and we want to reward him for his performances and his involvement in the club with this new deal.

“He is a real talent, he is that sort of player Super League needs, able to create the show, and I think the best is still to come for him.”
