Moore and Walker out of World Cup

Scotland pair Gareth Moore and Jonathan Walker have been forced to pull out of the World Cup through injury.

Moore, who moved from Batley to Featherstone last week, has withdrawn with a shoulder injury, while a persistent knee problem has seen Hull KR‘s new prop Walker pull out.

Coach Steve McCormack will now seek permission to replace the pair in the squad, with Workington youngster Callum Phillips and experienced Whitehaven front-rower Paul Jackson in line to join the 24-man squad.

Most of the squad started training on Sunday, at Featherstone, with the overseas contingent of Ian Henderson, Peter Wallace, Kane Linnett and Luke Douglas not due to arrive until the second session on Thursday.

The Bravehearts face Papua New Guinea at Featherstone on Saturday.
