Monaghan’s future in the balance

Joel Monaghan‘s future at Canberra will be the subject of discussion when he meets with Raiders bosses tomorrow.

Monaghan, 27, was exposed last week in a picture posted on a social networking website simulating a sex act on a dog, in what he described as a ‘prank’.

He has been linked with Super League club Harlequins after rumours surfaced that he is likely to be sacked and de-registered from appearing in the NRL.

But he will appear with his manager Jim Banaghan in front of Raiders bosses at a meeting convened for tommorrow.

Canberra have promised to gauge the thoughts and feelings of Monaghan’s team mates before making a final decision on his future.

“We’ve given Joel some time to meet with his manager before the meeting and we’ll also make sure the playing group has the opportunity to give their thoughts before making any decision on his future,” said Raiders CEO Don Furner.

“I would also like to take this opportunity to clear up Joel’s current position. He has not resigned from the club and the board has not yet determined an outcome on his future.”

A time and venue for the meeting will be announced once it has been finalised.
