Momentum with Saints ahead of Super 8s start

St Helens forward Kyle Amor says they have momentum going in to the Super 8s, which they kick-off this Thursday with a trip to Castleford.

A 41-16 win over Wakefield in the final round of the regular season means Saints are just a point off the top four going in to the final seven games of the season.

He told the club’s official website: “It was a rare away win and hopefully we have some momentum behind us but we have a lot of hard work ahead over the next ten weeks.

“We’re at the business end of the year and we need to keep getting better each week. I feel we have shown glimpses of that over the last few weeks too.”

Unlike previous seasons, the Super 8s is wide open with all eight teams in with a shout of a top four play-off place.

Huddersfield, five points off the pace, have a tough ask if they are to make it, but it promises to be a real tussle between Leeds, Hull, Salford, Wakefield, Saints and Wigan to claim the remaining three places.

Runaway league leaders Castleford are guaranteed a top four place, and could even have the league leaders shield wrapped up within a fortnight.

As well as the Tigers game at home to Saints, Huddersfield host Wakefield, Salford travel to Hull and Leeds play Wigan.
