Mitch Achurch feels week off will help Leeds

Leeds forward Mitch Achurch is hoping that hard work in preparation this week can help his club change their dismal record at Huddersfield.

The Rhinos have not managed to beat the Giants since 2011, and Achurch is expecting a tough test at Headingley this evening.

“Obviously our record against them isn’t very good,” he told Rhinos TV.

“Over the last four years we’ve struggled a little bit. This week we’ve done a lot of work on having a look at why that is.

“Hopefully we’ve identified a few things that we can get over them this time.

“They’ll come out firing, as we expect, and it’ll be a good game.”

Leeds enjoyed a week off last weekend as the World Club Series took place.

After two tough opening games against Hull KR and Widnes, Achurch was glad of the time off.

“I think that week off, we needed a rest, even though it’s only two weeks in,” he added.

“We’ve had a couple of big games. We got stuck into Widnes, and all the boys deserved a rest.

“We’re ready to go now.”
