Milward believes it’s time for more KR Cup glory

Former Hull KR player and coach Roger Millward thinks that Challenge Cup success for the Robins is long overdue.

Millward was the last Rovers skipper to lift the Challenge Cup, back on a memorable day in 1980 when the Robins beat Hul FC 10-5 at Wembley.

Millward thinks that Rovers have been inconsistent this season, but feels that their half-back combination of Terry Campese and Albert Kelly can help steer Chirs Chester’s men to success.

“It’s about time another Rovers captain lifted the Challenge Cup,” Millward told the Hull Daily Mail.

“I’ve always been proud of what I achieved at Hull KR, including the cup win in 1980.

“I always follow Rovers’ results and they have been a bit hit and miss this season.

“We win some matches, then we lose some. If we can get that sorted we’ll be alright.

“Albert and Terry are good players. There’s nothing wrong with them.

“They need to settle down into a rhythm so it’s the same rhythm every time they turn up to play.

“We have beaten top teams and if they could play like that against every team they’d be doing well.”
