Warrington prop Mike Cooper is set to miss his club’s Super League elimination play-off against Hull KR on Friday due to suspension.

The England international was sent off for a high tackle on front rower Liam Watts during the closing stages of the Wolves’ 40-24 win over Castleford in the final match of the regular season last Thursday.

Cooper has been charged by the Rugby Football League’s match review panel with a Grade B offence and given a one-match notice.

The club have until 11am on Tuesday to challenge the decision and attend a disciplinary hearing that evening.

Winger Josh Charnley has been told he will face no further action after being sin-binned for an alleged dangerous tackle during the same game.

Salford centre Dan Sarginson will miss the start of the 2022 season after he was handed a three-match penalty notice for a Grade C offence of striking during his side’s 26-14 win over St Helens.

Meanwhile, the RFL is to carry out an investigation into an alleged eye gouge by Newcastle Thunder hooker Evan Simons during his team’s 82-12 defeat by Toulouse in the final round of the Championship on Saturday.
