Michael Shenton testimonial shirt unveiled, featuring Love Rugby League
Love Rugby League has supported Michael Shenton’s testimonial year by sponsoring the special kit to be worn for his testimonial match against Toronto on Sunday.
Shenton, 33, has made more than 300 appearances for the Tigers in two spells, either side of a two-year stint at St Helens, and was named in the Super League Dream Team in 2017.
His Castleford side welcome the Wolfpack to the Mend-A-Hose Jungle on Sunday to celebrate his career.
The special jersey, designed and produced by Fittstyle, includes the classic black and amber of Castleford as well as the colour pallet of Shenton’s amateur club, Smawthorne Panthers.
The rear of the jersey features the Love Rugby League logo.
Replicas of Shenton’s testimonial shirt will not available for purchase, a decision made with the Tigers already having three fantastic shirts available in 2020 and Michael not wanting to introduce a fourth option, however unique match worn authentic shirts will be available through various auctions and prize draws throughout the coming year at Shenton’s testimonial events.
The first match worn shirt up for grabs will be the one taken straight off Jesse Sene-Lefao’s back. Prize draw tickets to win JSL’s shirt, priced at just £2.00, will be available to purchase from the Tigers Den club shop in Carlton Lanes, and from the Tigers Sports Superstore in Xscape from Tuesday 14th January until Saturday 18th January.
Tickets will also be available pre-match on Sunday from representatives of Castleford Tigers Supporters Club who will be located around the stadium concourse on match day, with one winner being drawn and announced at half time.
Shenton will make a donation of funds from this prize draw to Castleford Tigers Supporters Club, to help them to continue to support Castleford Tigers in 2020.
A second match worn jersey will also become available next week via auction with all fund being donated to the Rob Burrow fund.
A host of videos have been flooding in over the past week from players who have taken to the field with Shenton across his career, all urging Tigers fans to head along to the MAH Jungle on Sunday 19th January to enjoy Shenton’s testimonial match.
The Tigers take on the Wolfpack at 2:00pm. Tickets are on sale now priced at £15 for adults and £10 for concessions when purchased in advance of game day from the Tigers retail stores. Match day prices will be £16 for adults and £11 for concessions.
