Michael Lawrence sidelined for Huddersfield

Huddersfield will need a new stand-in captain for Thursday night’s game at home to Warrington after Michael Lawrence was ruled out through injury.

Lawrence, 27, skippered the Giants in their opening day defeat at Hull in place of injured club captain Leroy Cudjoe.

But he too now faces a spell on the sidelines with a hamstring injury.

Coach Rick Stone said: “With Michael Lawrence and Leroy Cudjoe injured we’ve still got a strong leadership group with Danny Brough and Ryan Hinchcliffe so one of them will probably captain the side this week.

“Our captains seem to be dropping like flies, maybe it’s a bit of a poisoned chalice.”
