Sheffield Eagles have confirmed that centre Menzie Yere will be staying at the club, on an ongoing rolling contract.

The 31-year-old Papua New Guinea international centre has been with Sheffield since 2009, and is the club’s record try scorer.

“We are highly delighted that Menzie is on board going forward,” said Eagles coach Mark Aston.

“He has been a revelation since he joined the club many years ago, and we are looking forward to plenty more years together as we enter the next phase in the history of Sheffield Eagles rugby league.

“He has been a great servant to this club, he has been fantastic for us over a long period of time and we are excited about what he can bring in the future.

“The club is progressing, we are going full-time and Menzie will be a big part of that.

“We have a core group staying with us like Menzie who have experience and they will help some of the younger lads like Adam and George who are joining us who have bags of potential. It is really exciting times for the club.”
