McShane set for crucial match
Widnes loanee Paul McShane knows their basement clash with London on Saturday is crucial.
McShane, 22, made his Vikings debut in Sunday’s shock 26-22 win over Huddersfield, and he will now be looking to help the club secure their first away win back in the top flight.
He told the club’s official website: “Without a doubt, you would definitely have to class this as one, if not the, biggest game of our season so far. We’re going up against a team who probably don’t think they deserve to be rooted to the bottom of the Super League table and they will be looking to take out their frustration on us and leap-frog us for positions.
“Everybody is well aware just how crucial this game is. We’ve prepared really well for it and we’ll be going there with a positive mental attitude and looking to take our ‘A-Game’ with us and come away with another win.”
Widnes’ three wins this season have all come at home – against Wigan, London and Huddersfield.
During their last season in Super League, in 2005, they were beaten 66-8 and 68-10 away from home by the Broncos.
