McRae Sacked As Souths Coach

Former Hull and St Helens coach Shaun McRae has been sacked from his position as coach of the struggling South Sydney Rabbitohs.

McRae has been offered the role of director of football at the Rabbitohs, but is not expected to take up the job.

Souths are currently twelve points adrift of their nearest rivals at the bottom of the NRL Telstra Premiership.

McRae will be replaced by Jason Taylor who will join Souths on a two year contract from Parramatta Eels after being linked with Sydney Roosters.

The news is likely to increase speculation that St Helens boss Daniel Anderson will be moving to the Roosters after landing the Powergen Challenge Cup on Saturday.

Anderson has also been linked with Cronulla Sharks where Stuart Raper is under pressure, and could now be linked with a move to Parramatta.
