McGuire still excited by preseason at Leeds

Leeds half-back Danny McGuire is enjoying preseason at the Rhinos, and is hopeful that the club can once again enjoy success in 2016.

Last season saw the Rhinos take a domestic treble of trophies, but also lose some iconic veterans, like Jamie Peacock and Kevin Sinfield, at the end of the campaign.

Kylie Leuluai also exited the club, meaning that new recruits like Keith Galloway and Beau Falloon have joined the squad for preseason.

“It’s interesting, as you get older it’s a little bit different,” McGuire told Rhinos TV.

“To be honest with you, I really enjoyed preseason last year.

“I felt really fit for the start of the year, and I was exicted and looking forward to it.

“Now we’re back in and things are going really well.

“It’s good to be back here with the boys and looking forward to another big year.”

The 32-year-old feels energised by the new challenges that preseason has thrown up this year.

“You always need a few fresh bodies to come in and liven things up,” he added.

“We’ve got few younger players coming in who are going to be more experienced as well.

“The group’s different, we’re missing a lot of experience [from] the lads that have left us now.

“But I’m excited. I think we’ve got a great chance again this year to do something really special and I’m excited by that.”
