McGuire pleased Leeds put bad first half behind them

Leeds stand-off Danny McGuire was relieved that the Rhinos recovered from a poor first half to sweep Hull FC away on Thursday evening.

Despite trailing 12-0 at half-time, Leeds ended up winning 43-12 at the KC Stadium, and McGuire felt that the clash was the classic ‘game of two halves’.

“Teamwise and individually it was a bit of a dodgy first half,” he told Rhinos TV.

“Sometimes those things happen. Hull started really strongly, and it didn’t feel like we had much ball in that first half.

“When we did, we probably tried a little bit too hard, because we didn’t have much of it.

“But we stuck with it, we worked really hard for each other. The attitude is never in question with our lads.

“Everybody puts a massive amount of effort in each week.

“We were still confident at half-time, even though we were down, that we could get back in the game.

“Some of the stuff we did in the second half was pretty special.

“That’s what we’re capable of doing, so we’re very happy.”
