Leeds Rhinos have confirmed that Danny McGuire has been ruled out for the remainder of the season and will require surgery on the knee injured in the win over Wigan in the Engage Super League Play Offs.

The 27-year-old underwent a scan today on the injured knee and the club’s medical staff have been advised that surgery will be required.

Head of Physiotherapy Services Meirion Jones commented: “After further investigations and a consultation with our knee specialist, Mr Bollen, it has been confirmed that Danny has ruptured multiple knee ligaments which will require surgery and an extended period of rehabilitation extending into next season.”

McGuire picked up the injury in the dying seconds of the dramatic 27-26 win at Wigan in a collision with Warriors centre George Carmont.

The Rhinos are just 80 minutes from a fourth consecutive Grand Final appearance.
