McDermott praises influential duo

Leeds’ boss Brian McDermott singled out Danny McGuire and Adam Cuthbertson for special praise after the Rhinos came from behind to win 30-24 at Catalan on Saturday.

McGuire’s late try completed the Rhinos’ fightback to move McDermott’s team back up to third in the Super League table despite missing Ryan Hall and Kallum Watkins due to international duty.

McDermott said “I thought Danny and Adam were outstanding. Adam was hugely influential in that final 20 minutes, but then Danny maintained calm and he had a good control over the majority of proceedings.

“I thought we were great, none of it was brilliant, but we came over here and played against a team that has had a disappointing loss last week so they were really fired up. I said at half-time that although it wasn’t a vintage performance that that is what it is like here.

“It’s tough to come here and get used to being put on the back foot and get used to being on your own try line whether you think you should be there or not and for whatever reason, get used to defending your own try line and let’s see if we can dig one out.”
