McDermott: Leeds are building

Leeds coach Brian McDermott says the Rhinos were far from perfect against St Helens but they are building towards better performances.

The Rhinos recorded just their second win of 2016 with a 30-18 result over Saints.

“It was a battle,” McDermott told Sky.

“They dropped some ball which probably let us off the hook a little. But they didn’t give up Saints and kept at it, but I wouldn’t say it was a perfect performance by any means.

“There was a couple bits of looseness there both offensively. We’re building, we’re building. Where we’ve been and where we hope to be, it’s a nice one along the way though.

“We had some massive defensive efforts in that second half.”
