McCormack happy with potential after Fev loss

Swinton boss Steve McCormack believes his side have potential to challenge for a play off place after their performance against Featherstone.

The Lions conceded a late converted try to lose 26-24 at the Leigh Sports Village against a side that defeated Super League opposition a week earlier in the Challenge Cup.

Despite the improved performance, McCormack believes there is still work to be done on the field, and room for improvement.

He said: “Performance wise it was good but for the majority of the season our performance has been quite consistent. We’ve probably been just as consistent as last year but we are playing against some very good teams.

“They are a good side. They would beat quite a few of the bottom teams in Super league and we can take encouragement from that.”

Despite the encouraging loss, McCormack and his side were far from happy with picking up only a bonus point.

He said: “I think it’s a sign of our expectations how disappointed the changing room is. We are not happy with a bonus point. We should have won the game and that’s the feeling of the players and the coaching staff.”
