McCarthy set to join Wakefield

Irish international Tyrone McCarthy is set to move again.

The versatile forward who played for Warrington in the 2009 Challenge Cup Final at Wembley will link with Wakefield Trinity Wildcats on Monday according to Leigh Centurions boss Ian Millward.

The youngster made 14 appearances on dual contract with the Centurions in 2010 and recently returned to play with the Sports Village based club on similar terms after injuries to Steve Nash and Ricky Bibey.

He has played in the Leigh’s last two successes over Barrow and Widnes and has scored three tries in those games, including two in the 54-16 hammering of the Vikings on Sunday.

“He’ll be going to Wakefield on loan for four weeks, but I was aware of that when he joined us.”

“I wanted him onboard while the other couple of blokes were injured. He was outstanding and against Widnes, he was the only forward to play eighty minutes out of both teams.”
