McCarthy moves Down Under

Ireland international back-rower Tyrone McCarthy has signed for Queensland-based club Northern Pride.

McCarthy, 25, left Warrington at the end of the season, and has played in all three of Ireland‘s games at the World Cup.

He will link up at Northern Pride with former Super League player Jason Demetriou, who is their coach.

Demetriou said: “Tyrone’s a guy who has played 50-odd games of Super League. When I was over in the UK, I was fortunate enough to watch him and play with him and I’m absolutely thrilled he’s turned down the chance to stay in Super League for a new adventure at the Pride.”
