Scott McAvoy has signed with Whitehaven for the 2017 campaign.

McAvoy captained the club last season and had his testimonial at Easter.

“My recent operation seems to have been a total success and it has held up to all the rigourous pre-season training,” the centre said.

“I am simply raring to go, we have a great new coach and a good solid squad with some new faces and old.

“It all makes for a great atmosphere at the moment.”

Whitehaven director Gary Eilbeck said: “Scott is just so much part of this club, a senior professional and an inspiration to the younger players.

“Sitting under this famous trophy just makes us all want to start the season and of course retain the Ike Southward Trophy for the fans.”
