Matterson takes Titans role

Former Castleford head coach Terry Matterson has swapped North Queensland for Gold Coast in the NRL.

Matterson, 47, has been appointed assistant coach by Neil Henry, who became Titans head coach in August following John Cartwright’s departure.

It is three years since Matterson left Castleford, following six years in charge. He also led the USA Tomahawks to the quarter-finals of last autumn’s World Cup in a memorable campaign.

Henry was head coach at the Cowboys when Matterson joined as assistant, and the pair worked together for two seasons before Henry departed at the end of 2013.

Henry said: “I’m looking forward to working with Terry again.

“He has had a wide depth of experience as a player and a coach and has a lot to offer the Titans.

“He has had an extensive record in Australia and England and a great understanding of the game and he’ll be a real asset to us.”
