Wigan head coach Matt Peet has provided an update on injured duo Liam Marshall and Willie Isa.

The pair left the field during their 19-18 victory over Hull last Thursday in Super League.

Marshall’s departure saw Bevan French return for his first appearance of the season. Isa, 33, left the field with a shoulder problem.

Despite their knocks, Peet has confirmed that both could be available for their Challenge Cup clash with Wakefield on Sunday.

“Willie and Liam are in the mix,” Peet said during his pre-match press conference.

“They’re training well and we’ll give them as long as they need to prove their fitness.

“They are two important players for us. It was great to have Bevan back as well.

“Iain Thornley played in the reserves, so he’s in contention. We can’t complain (with new injuries).”

Captain Thomas Leuluai could also return from his one-match suspension.

Peet on Challenge Cup

Wigan travel to Wakefield on Sunday, April 10 , for their quarter-final clash of the Challenge Cup.

The tie will be broadcast live on BBC, and Peet is expecting a tough test against Willie Poching’s side.

“They’re a good, exciting team,” he said.

“They’re tough to beat, particularly at home. A tough crowd and a hostile environment. They’re a good team and will test you.

“They have really good players who you’d pay to watch; David Fifita, the halves, the back-line, they’ve got real class.”
