Matt Parcell could be out for the season

Hull KR hooker Matt Parcell might not play again in 2019 if he has surgery to treat his shoulder injury.

The 26-year-old has impressed since joining the Robins on loan from Leeds, scoring two tries in three games.

But Parcell picked up a shoulder injury in Friday’s 32-16 win over the Rhinos and if he requires surgery, then he could be ruled out for the rest of the year.

Hull KR physio Dan Ramsden said: “Matt has had initial scans following his shoulder injury sustained on Friday.

“He will meet with our shoulder specialist tomorrow [Wednesday] to establish the most appropriate treatment plan moving forward, this could involve a period of rehabilitation or potentially surgery.

“Return to play following surgery would be approximately four months.

“Matt will also complete the standard head injury return to play protocol having also sustained a concussion during the tackle.”
