Matt Gillett to play Origin with broken nose

Queensland back-rower Matt Gillett will play Origin on Sunday, despite suffering a broken nose last weekend.

The 30-year-old suffered a knee to the head while playing for Brisbane Broncos in Saturday’s 38-10 loss to Parramatta Eels.

Gillett insists he has no doubts about playing in Sunday’s Origin II against New South Wales, 10:50am kick-off (UK time).

He told NRL.com: “I got an accidental knee to the head in our game on the weekend and it busted my nose, so the bruising is starting to come out now.

“The medical team did a good job in popping it back in but no doubt it is going to be a little bit worse come Monday!

“It’s just a broken nose, but I’m all good. It’s all part of footy.”
