Warrington’s latest recruit Matt Dufty is expected to miss up to three weeks with a foot injury sustained during his Super League debut.

The full-back left the field in the second half during his first appearance against Huddersfield over the weekend.

Warrington confirm that the 26-year-old will miss between two-to-three weeks with the foot issue.

“Scans have revealed Matt Dufty’s foot injury, sustained on debut against Huddersfield, will see our full-back sidelined with an estimated return date of 2-3 weeks,” Warrington shared.

“Speedy recovery, Matt.”

Squad news

Josh Thewlis has returned to Warrington’s squad for their clash against Wigan this Friday at the DW Stadium. Samoa World Cup hopeful Thomas Mikaele also limped off the field at the start of the second half. However, he has been included in the squad by head coach Daryl Powell.

George Williams has been named after missing last week’s defeat to Huddersfield due to a migraine.

Meanwhile, Wigan will be without hooker Sam Powell for up to a month due to a foot injury sustained in the victory over Hull KR. Replacement number nine Brad O’Neill will also miss the match through suspension.

Iain Thornley, Tommy Leuluai and John Bateman remain sidelined through injury for the Warriors. Brad Singleton is back available after serving a three-match suspension for a high tackle at Magic Weekend.

The teams will be playing for the Locker Cup for the first time in three years.
