Masoe wants to end Saints spell with more trophies

St Helens prop Mose Masoe is determined to end his spell at Langtree Park on a high, with him leaving the club at the end of the season.

Masoe is returning to the NRL next season, having signed a deal to join the St George-Illawarra Dragons.

But he does not want to say goodbye to the Saints fans with the taste of disappointment lingering in his mouth at the end of the season.

“All Keiron Cunningham wants is for me is to finish off with a bang and give it my all,” he said.

“That’s how I want to leave the club. We’ve got Leeds again in a semi-final, and I hope we can learn from our mistakes in the last two Super League games that we’ve played against them.

“To just build and hopefully give them a match they deserve, and a match that our fans deserve.

“Also to finish the season with a back-to-back Super League title would be great.”

Family reasons are the main motivation for Masoe returning Down Under. He has a seven-year-old son who lives in Australia, who has not been allowed to join him in the UK due to immigration and visa restrictions.

Although he is keen to get back to the southern hemisphere so that he can spend time with his son again, he is also fully focused on beating the Huddersfield Giants this weekend.

“We want to try and win as many games as we can, to put ourselves in the best position for the final eight,” he said.

“Because the further up the ladder you are, you get the better draw and more home games.

“So we’d love to finish in that top two position, and try and push for first, but we just have to think about this week against Huddersfield.
