Marshall pleased with Halifax progress

Halifax will seek to make it four wins from four games when they host Swinton this weekend.

Fax had an inconsistent start to 2016 but are now on a roll having won their last three games.

“We’ve had no easy games but been able to come through the other side,” Coach Richard Marshall said.

“We beat Bradford and Oldham and then Featherstone, which was a real close game, but we managed to get through.

“I think Swinton raise their game against teams at the top of the table and we’re expecting them to do that this week.

“They had a good win last week against Workington and played some nice football. We need to be better defensively and manage what they throw at us this week.”

Swinton halfback Matty Beharrell is in doubt for the game with a hip injury.

Lions coach John Duffy is expecting a tough challenge against Halifax.

“We’ve had two decent wins and had to tough it out in both so we’re happy,” he said.

“It’s amazing what a bit of self-belief does and I hope we can just keep giving a good account of ourselves.

“We’ve got a big game this weekend. Halifax are a quality outfit, they’ve got some really good players. They’ve got some big men up the middle, who are very experienced, and obviously the halfbacks are very classy and have been around the game.

“It’s a massive challenge for us. Hopefully we can give a good account of ourselves on the day and keep building our confidence up.”
