Mark Andrews to help Chris Thorman at Huddersfield

Huddersfield have brought in Australian Mark Andrews to assist caretaker coach Chris Thorman on a short-term basis.

Andrews previously worked for the Giants between 2009 and 2010 under Nathan Brown, before taking up the role of head of strength and conditioning at Melbourne Rebels. He went on to work in the NRL for St George Illawarra Dragons and Newcastle Knights.

He will arrive in the UK on Friday. Giants managing director, Richard Thewlis, is delighted to see Andrews return to the John Smith’s Stadium.

Thewlis said: “Mark will bring a fresh pair of eyes to the coaching team and will report directly to Chris Thorman assisting him in his specialist areas of preparation to play and perform at the highest level.

“He knows the Club well and was a popular member in the successful years in 2009 and 2010 before he returned to Australia.

“He has a gap at the moment in his career path and was very keen to come across and help get us moving in the right direction so there is a natural fit between the Club and him.

“In typical ‘Bumper’ fashion he’s keen to get straight to training so he hopped on a plane as soon as practical and will, am sure, bring great energy, experience and be a great fit alongside Chris and his team of coaches.”
