Wakefield forward Frankie Mariano has joined Championship side Featherstone on loan.

Mariano, 26, has played six times for the Wildcats this season, but will now go straight in to contention for Rovers’ game against Halifax on Sunday.

He said: “I’m looking forward to meeting my new teammates and working under Daryl Powell who I believe is an excellent coach. Featherstone Rovers already have a strong squad I am hoping that I can bring further quality and experience to the side.”

The former Hull KR back-rower, who has 45 Super League appearances to his name, joined Wakefield back in 2010.

Meanwhile, Wildcats academy prop Ben Shulver has signed a full-time professional contract.

The 19-year-old made his first team debut in Saturday’s Challenge Cup win over Hemel Stags.
