Marguerite wants Olympique back on track

Toulouse three-quarter Gavin Marguerite wants Olympique to return to winning ways this weekend, when they welcome Dewsbury to the Stade Ernest Argeles.

The French club were well beaten in wet and wintry conditions by Sheffield on Sunday evening, at Belle Vue in Wakefield.

With Trinity having played a Super League game against Hull FC immediately prior to the game, the pitch was muddy and slow.

“Upon our arrival there, we were surprised by the cold,” Marguerite explained.

“There was snow everywhere, the ground was very muddy, it was not ideal conditions, especially for a game like ours.

“We started well but then we went through an empty passage of play, and we started to make mistakes.

“Little by little, we fell out of our gameplan, and Sheffield took advantage of it.

“When we managed to get things back in hand, it was too late, the damage was done. We were too indisciplined in this game to hope to win, and we did not develop our game.”

Marguerite was disappointed by the manner of the away defeat, and now wants to help the team develop a formidable home record.

“It’s hard to lose this first away game,” he said.

“After beating Batley at home, we wanted to kick on with a first success in England. We did not succeed.

“So we have to get back to work to get the victory on Saturday against Dewsbury.

“They lost their first two games and want to win their first victory quickly.

“But regardless of the opponents, we have to pick ourselves up.

“At the beginning of the season, we said, ‘At home, we do not lose.’

“So there is no choice but to grab it on Saturday. We want to show a different face than last weekend, our true face, and to activate a new dynamic.”
