Catalans forward Thibaud Margalet has turned down offers from clubs in the UK to sign a new two-year deal with the Dragons.

Margalet, 24, was born in Perpignan and made 19 appearances in 2017.

Dragons CEO Christophe Jouffret added: “Thibaud is a local player, proud of his culture and his jersey. He was one of our priorities and we are delighted to keep him at the club, despite several offers from UK.

“He can now focus on continuing his progression to cement his place in the Catalan pack.”

Catalans are yet to announce any new signings having secured their Super League status by defeating Leigh in the Million Pound Game a fortnight ago.

Margalet added: “I’m really happy to have re-signed for two years with the Catalans Dragons.

“I love the club, it’s my hometown club, and I’m proud to represent the Catalans Dragons. Playing for this club means a lot to me.”
