March fails in ban appeal

Keighley player-coach Paul March has failed in an appeal to have his four-match ban overturned.

March, 34, was handed the suspension for questioning the integrity of a match official in the Championship fixture against Doncaster on February 23.

An RFL Disciplinary Tribunal went outside the normal suspension guidelines for the Grade C offence after considering March’s previous record, his age and his position as player-coach.

March again pleaded not guilty at the appeals tribunal, but the panel upheld the original sanction of a four-match ban and £100 fine.
