Manly 10-12 Penrith

Manly’s season continues to implode following their shock 12-10 defeat at the hands of Penrith.

Chris Bailey got under the Panthers’ defence to grab an early score and it took some world-class defending from the premiers to keep the visitors out to lead 6-0 at half-time.

With Brookvale being belted by heavy rain it was the Panthers who adapted better when Frank Pritchard’s offload set Lachlan Coote up for the try. Masada Iosefa crossed from dummy-half for Penrith although Bailey replied with his second to make for a tense finish. Matt Orford’s missed conversion was the difference between the two teams who fought tooth and nail for the win. More bad news for the Sea Eagles comes with the loss of Jamie Lyon to a suspected serious knee injury.
