Mamo boost for Huddersfield

Huddersfield pair Jake Mamo and Tommy Symons are set to return from spells on the sidelines for this weekend’s pre-season friendly at Wakefield.

Mamo, 22, hasn’t played since June while Symonds managed just two appearances in an injury-curtailed 2017.

Coach Rick Stone told the club’s official website: “It’s important for Jake to get a run out before throwing him in against Hull. I think it’s important for his own confidence too and Tommy Symonds is in the same boat.

“They’ve not played for a while after a decent injury and have done a lot of training by putting in a lot of miles in their legs. I think they’ll benefit from playing and getting some confidence from playing off the blokes around them.”

The Giants travel to Belle Vue on Saturday evening and Stone confirmed Mamo is likely to feature at full-back at some stage, with Lee Gaskell appearing in the centres with Leroy Cudjoe still absent.

Stone is expected to play more of his full strength squad against Trinity having used an experimental side in the narrow win over Dewsbury last weekend.
